In business since 1961, The Farm and Garden Store in downtown Statesville is my new favorite place! Seriously y’all I’m born and raised here (Harmony to be exact) and I don’t know how I didn’t know about this place!!
If you’re looking to fill your garden with veggies, herbs, or flowers this year this is my new go-to spot. They also have anything you need from soil and fertilizer to tools and gardening gloves.
Not only does it feel good to support local, but the employees were all so welcoming and helpful – they even offered to help me with Jace’s stroller going up the stairs. 💛
Plus, I’m almost certain my grandparents got their plants here, too 🌻 🥹

With interest rates constantly fluctuating, a lot of buyers have been asking me about new construction. So, here are 4 things you need to know BEFORE buying new construction in Iredell or Catawba Counties:
#1) Get your own representation. The agent in the office may be nice, but at the end of the day, that agent represents the builder (seller)...not you (buyer). Just as in a traditional transaction, you too should have your own party looking out for YOUR interests.
#2) Starting price doesn't mean the ending price! Everything costs money: blinds, knobs, upgraded flooring, garage door opener, appliances, etc. Make sure you know what's included in the starting price because you won't know until you ask. And most folks don’t even know to ask. Plus, this upgrade money is typically non-refundable.
#3) Not all builders are created equal. There is no clearinghouse, or checkpoint system, where someone can report bad service. As a matter of fact, most contracts indicate you cannot put out ANY information regarding terrible service regarding any builder. It’s in their 40+ page contract that you are forced to sign with no changes. Do your research BEFORE you choose a builder.
#4) Just because it passed the county code inspections does not mean it was done correctly. New construction often needs even more inspections than existing homes.
In conclusion, buying a new construction home is exciting and it can be fun! If you love picking out flooring and knobs and counters, etc...then it may be the best option for you! Especially if you are aware of your finances and have a budget in mind.
Plan for success and make sure you have someone on your side to navigate you through the process in order to avoid any complications.

1. Buyer looking for a home within 30 minutes from Davidson. Must have at least 4 bedrooms, 2 baths, and 2,500 sqft. Ideally, a lot of storage, on a flat lot, and no HOA (but can be flexible if in an HOA) Budget up to $450K
2. Buyer needs a 3-bedroom, 2-bath home with a 2-car garage, designated office space, & preferably in a more rural area. Ideally newer than 2015 or recently updated with no HOA. Must be within 30 minutes of Huntersville. HUGE perk if close to a horse boarding facility. Budget up to $500K
3. Buyer looking for a 5-bedroom, 3-bath waterfront home. Must have a 3-car garage located north of Lake Norman. Budget up to $1.3M
4. Buyer looking for a mobile home park anywhere around Taylorsville, Statesville, Hickory, or the surrounding areas, budget flexible based on cash flow.
5. Buyer needing a 3+ bedroom ranch home. Ideally, with a half-acre or more of land and no HOA. Budget up to $350K
6. Buyer looking for a 4-bedroom, 3-bath full-brick home with a basement. Looking near North Iredell, Statesville, Sherrills Ford, and ideally over 2,700 sqft. Budget up to $650K
